Er was super slow..... nurses were really nice but the doctor was horrible as if my problem was no big deal, and that he had better things to be doing. I waited from 6pm to 930pm to get into a room, was never given an IV after they had trouble getting blood to run tests, was just given a thing of water to drink. Nothing else was done till 1130pm and didn’t leave till 1am.... I left feeling the same way I did before I went in with zero answers.
Nursing staff are uncaring to family of patients, when the patient has no one to speak for them.
Awful experience in CHOP Er. If You think you were gonna have to same experience as chop in Philadelphia, think again. I’ve been to chop and thought of you many times for my daughter and only had the best experiences. Chop at Virtua is awful. The staff and doctors are very rude. I will never go here again
In June of 2017 I was unnecessarily placed against my will on suicide watch in the children's ward of this hospital. Upon my placement in what was essentially a padded room, I had one doctor ask me to show her all my scars and ask how depressed I was feeling. For the next 16 hours I remained in that room, supervised by a nurse, but without being seen by another doctor. I had blood drawn three or four times (one time during which the contents of the syringe were spilled onto my lap and gurney), I had to give a urine sample (which was also supervised because I was "a danger to myself" and couldn't be left alone), and my blood pressure was taken about 10 times during my stay. Essentially, no actual care was given. I was simply "the suicidal girl" on display in a lobby full of inquisitive toddlers and their concerned parents. Just driving past this hospital makes me feel angry and physically ill.
Emergency room had one doctor on Saturday at 1 am. Unacceptable . Sleak new hospital, but understaffed. What good is that?
No communication between doctors, nurses and the patient. My family was kept in the dark for four days as to plan of treatment for my daughter. Nursing care is not carried out with compassion, but rather doing the "minimum" to get their shift over. Sad.
Pros: Their cafeteria is good.
Compassion in low supply there. As a mother of a sick daughter over age 21, I was threatened with removal from the hospital.
Cons: Virtua has doctors attending to patients with no experience making health decisions on patients where the doctors have not studied in that field of medicine. They will use foreign doctors as escape goats to deflect responsibility. My family nor I have confidence in their practice of medicine and nor consider Virtua a quality health care provider. Period.
